Hello,

We wanted to start a blog for our mom as a way to keep everyone updated and keep our family and friends connected. Also we hope this site will help anyone researching colon cancer for a loved one.

As many of you already know our mom Kim was diagnosed with metastic colon cancer June 23, 2008. She is only 54 years old and has always been in good health. So as you can imagine it came as quite a shock. Especially since her mom is 85 and cancer does not run in the family. Immediately after her diagnosis she was hospitalized 12 days to run tests and scans in order to determine how far the cancer had spread. We were devastated to learn that she had several masses in her liver and two in her lungs. Thankfully there were no tumors in her brain or bones.

Due to mom’s illness she has been unable to continue working and dad is only able to work very part time since he has become her full time care giver. We realize this is a tough economy but every little bit helps. Anyone who is able and would like to contribute can donate through the website.

We would like to thank all our family and friends who have showed their love and concern. We are truly blessed to have such a loving support system. For anyone out there going through a cancer diagnosis our thoughts and prayers are with you. It is such an emotional rollercoaster and can be very overwhelming. Stay strong and keep positive!  Please remember to have a colonoscopy when you turn 50!

Kimmie is one of the sweetest most beautiful people in this world. Her soul is rich and deep, so very special. She exudes a warmth and a love that makes everyone feel so comfortable the moment they meet her. I am in awe of her courage and I implore all that read her website to donate to her fight.

Kim, there is not a second that goes by that I am not thinking of you. You are not in my heart you are a part of my heart. Praying for you. Cant wait for you to beat this cancer so we can celebrate. Oh what a party we will have. Love you- Bobby B

Dear Kim,
Read Bob’s comment and how true it is about you and how I could write the same. I loved you the moment we met and knew we would be friends forever. No matter where you are and no matter where I was it did not matter. We could pick up where we left off. Hope you are feeling better and the treatment is working. You and your family are in my prayers. Love ya and I will keep in touch.

Hey Kim - Remember me? I was a friend of yours and Lisa’s back in the late 70’s. Grew up down the street from the Maddens in the A section, too. I remember a baby shower we were at with you where we were all pigging out on chocolate cake and you - the skinny one- said ‘I don’t like chocolate or cake much”! I remember that tiny apartment of yours on Beaver(?) St. when you were pregnant with Eric - so neat and clean. You hang in there, we are all rooting for ya to kick this thing. I know you can do it.

Sending my love and prayers from Portland. Think of you often.

God, Kim, I have a hard time figureing out how to get on these sites. I love you sooo much and hate that you are having to go thru all this. Wouldn’t be so nice to be in battle with “you know who” over anything but this!

Now I am quoting Mother Teresa when she said, “If you judge people, you have not time to love them”

You never judged me. You have my heart. You have my hugs!!

Always, Diane
